Hydrographic Survey – Underwater Investigation – Bottom Characterization

Corporate Structure / Name Change: On July 1, 2009, we converted our corporate structure from SeaVision Marine Services LLC to SeaVision Underwater Solutions, Inc. We are now organized as a Subchapter S Corporation that is registered in the State of Rhode Island.

Dam Safety 2009: On September 27, 2009 to October 1, 2009, SeaVision will be exhibiting at the Dam Safety 2009 Conference in Hollywood, CA, hosted by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials. We are excited about this opportunity to market our unique combination of services that are in demand by dam owners, engineers, and construction companies.

ADCPs In Action: On October 5-7, 2009, SeaVision's principal, Jeff Snyder, will be attending the Teledyne-RD Instruments ADCPs in Action Conference in San Diego, CA. At the conference, Mr. Snyder will present the results of testing and evaluation he has performed with a Doppler-Velocity Log based dead-reckoning navigation system for observation-class ROVs.

VideoRay VIPS 2009 Conference: Building on the relationship that SeaVision has been developing with VideoRay, SeaVision's principal, Jeff Snyder, will be attending the VideoRay VIPS 2009 User Conference in St. Petersburg, FL. At the conference, Mr. Snyder will deliver a presentation about integrated survey and ROV deployment strategies for underwater investigations. Mr. Snyder will also be supporting two workshops regarding remote operations and confined-access operations. We are very excited about this opportunity to to collaborate with the folks at VideoRay and other VideoRay users at this unique knowledge-sharing event.

New Survey Vessel: We are very excited to announce the delivery of our new survey vessel, "LadyRed". LadyRed is a 21' Seacurity vessel built by AB Marine Group. We purchased the vessel from Maritime Solutions in Portsmouth, RI. From MSI, we brought the vessel to Titone Custom Metal Works (Brian Titone - 508-536-3341) in Fall River, MA. There, Brian modified the center console to become a fully enclosed pilothouse, added the bow-mounted pushknees, and fabricated brackets for mounting our various survey sensors. We have already had the vessel out for work in New York Harbor, Providence Harbor, and Quincy (MA) Harbor.

Remote Bottom Characterization: This past fall, SeaVision completed a sidescan sonar survey on the Rhode Island shoreline in support of a proposed dredging and beach placement project. Regulatory agencies in the New England region were concerned that the proposed sand placement activities might inundate hard-bottom fish and lobster habitats near the project area, so the design engineer determined that a sidescan sonar survey of the area, coupled with diver-based ground-truth profiles, would be the most effective approach to characterize the bottom and modify their design placement areas as necessary to avoid sensitive bottom habitats. SeaVision performed the fully geo-referenced sidescan sonar survey, processed the image mosaic, interpreted the imagery for four general bottom types, and then passed the results onto the design engineer for coordination with the diving consultant. It was determined that our bottom classification scheme agreed with diver observations, and the design engineer was able to better describe and delineate the survey area.

Multibeam Bathymetric Surveys: SeaVision is proud to announce that we are now offering multibeam bathymetric surveys as a standard, available service line. When we accepted delivery of our new survey vessel LadyRed, we also accepted delivery of a multibeam echosounder that we integretated into the vessel along with RTK-GPS positioning, true-north heading control, and motion reference sensors. Feel free to contact us about this service if you have any questions. (To right: submerged cars in a channel.)
